Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present Judith Jamison with The NYC Handel Medallion, the highest official honor given by the City of New York, on Monday, November 8th. Established in 1959 by Mayor Robert F. Wagner, recipients are selected for their outstanding contributions to the city’s intellectual and cultural life.
Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Judith Jamison has been named the 2010-2011 Ambassador to the Arts award winner by Guide for the Arts. Jamison is being honored for her 45 years of dedication and contributions to the Arts community.

Today, the Ailey organization announced that Tracy Inman and Melanie Person have been named Co-Directors of The Ailey School. Since the passing of Denise Jefferson, the beloved long-time Director of The Ailey School, Inman and Person have served as Acting Co-Directors.
The Ailey organization recently launched a redesigned website extending the online reach of all of Ailey’s components: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, The Ailey School, The Ailey Extension, and Ailey Arts In Education and Community Programs.
