Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, AileyCamp New York, is one of the eight AileyCamps across the country helping young people reach their full potential.
Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 2015 Lincoln Center engagement kicked off with a star-studded Ailey Spirit Gala on Wednesday, June 10th. The one-night-only benefit performance and party honoring the Ford Foundation and sponsored by FedEx featured supermodel and actor Tyson Beckford as Honorary Chair. Gala Co-Chairs were Gina F. My Story, My Dance: Robert Battle’s Journey to Alvin Ailey is the inspiring picture book biography of Robert Battle, artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle, who began the 2014-15 season by receiving for Alvin Ailey the nation’s highest civilian honor – the Presidential Medal of Freedom – Ailey’s acclaimed dancers return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for a two-week engagement at the David H. Koch Theater June 10th – 21st. Highlights of the first week include the June 10th opening night Ailey Sprit Gala, and the June 11th FREE House Dance Event on the Lincoln Center Plaza in conjunction with the world premiere of hip-hop choreographer Rennie Harris’ Exodus.

Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation has been selected for the New York-based Wallace Foundation’s Building Audiences for Sustainability effort – a new, six-year, $52-million initiative aimed at developing practical insights into how exemplary performing arts organizations can successfully expand their audiences, the foundation announced today.
