New York (CBSNewYork) - The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been entertaining audiences across the globe for decades, and this weekend the highly acclaimed company comes to Lincoln Center's David H. Koch theater. CBS2's Cindy Hsu was joined by the three newest Company members, Khalia Campell, Christopher R. Wilson and Courtney Celeste Spears for a special preview.
"I pride myself on having all the gadgets," says Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. At his house in Connecticut, they sit like sentinels against the backsplash on the large open kitchen's counters. Outside on his deck, a state-of-the-art grill stands beside a spiffy electric pellet smoker.
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- He was picked on for perfecting a pirouette rather than his crossover, but that didn't stop Christopher R. Wilson from chasing his dreams. Christopher's dreams has lead him from the Garden City to the Big Apple. "Dancing is a full time job. Just like how anyone goes to work 9-5. We dance," he says. This year, he will be joining the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Fulfilling a lifelong dream at age 22.

Seen once, the opening moments of Alvin Ailey’s “Revelations” are forever imprinted on a viewer’s inner eye. Arrayed in tight formation, the dancers bend one way and then the other, arms outstretched in solemn body harmony with the spiritual “I Been ’Buked.” Then, like a flock of birds poised to take flight, they simultaneously knee-bend toward the floor and wing-span their arched arms in one of the signature images of American dance. Inside a glass-enclosed dance studio at the Ailey School in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan, a diverse group of New Yorkers, stripped down to sports bras, T-shirts, tights and bare feet, stretched in a circle. Light drumming and singing accompanied a gentle, yoga flow.
