The Ailey Organization announced that Lisa Johnson-Willingham, a former dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, has been named Director of The Ailey Extension. During her 18-year history with Ailey, Johnson-Willingham’s roles have transcended the stage to also include leadership positions as choreographer, teacher and educational program Director.

The Ailey Extension presents a contemporary master class with Will Wingfield, one of the Top 8 contestants of FOX’s So You Think You Dance (Season 4), on Friday, November 12 at The Ailey Studios. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the choreography and style that became such a hit among So You Think You Can Dance judges and fans.

Established in 1959 by Mayor Robert F. Wagner, recipients are selected for their outstanding contributions to the city’s intellectual and cultural life.
