10th Annual Ailey At The Apollo - Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Stars of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, gifted young dancers from The Ailey School and, for the first time ever, talented students from AileyCamp will come together for a spectacular one-night performance on Tuesday, May 8th at 7pm on the world famous Apollo stage. Led by new Artistic Director Robert Battle, the Spring Gala Benefit performance will be at the Apollo Theater (253 W 125th Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues). A gala party with festive dress, décor and dancing to music by the famed DJ Ruckus will conclude the 10th annual celebration.

Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation Wins Vote For Funding Through Members Project From American Express and Takepart

Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation is proud to be voted as one of the charities to receive $200,000 from American Express through the company's Member Project program. The funds will help the Ailey organization further its mission of using dance to inspire, unite and educate, extending the scope of Ailey's dynamic performances, innovative arts education activities and world-class training programs.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is proud to announce its selection as a charity candidate in Members Project, a partnership between American Express and TakePart. Starting today, supporters and fans of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater can go online and vote once a week through February 20th to help the organization become one of five charities to share a total of $1,000,000 in funding from American Express.

The Ailey School Co-Directorship Announcement

Today, the Ailey organization announced that Tracy Inman and Melanie Person have been named Co-Directors of The Ailey School. Since the passing of Denise Jefferson, the beloved long-time Director of The Ailey School, Inman and Person have served as Acting Co-Directors.

The 2010 Lester Horton Pedagogy Workshop

As part of its mission to make dance accessible to young people and adults through dance training and innovative community outreach and arts-in-education programs, The Ailey School is proud to announce the 2010 Lester Horton Pedagogy Workshops taking place in two sessions this July (Session 1 Introductory: July 12-16 and Session 2** Intermediate/Advanced: July 19-23).
