The Ailey Spirit Gala Benefit Supports Scholarships and Arts In Education Programs - Thursday, June 15th at 7pm

The centerpiece of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Lincoln Center engagement is The Ailey Spirit Gala on Thursday, June 15th. This one-night-only benefit performance and party honors Ailey Board Vice Chairman Stephen Meringoff for his longtime support of Ailey, and his instrumental role in strengthening and sustaining AileyCamp. Critically-acclaimed actor André Holland, who most recently appeared in the eight-time Oscar-nominated film Moonlight, has just been announced as Honorary Chair.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s two-week spring engagement at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater kicks off on Wednesday, June 8th with The Ailey Spirit Gala, a one-night-only benefit performance and party. The Ailey Spirit Gala benefit performance at 7pm includes the world-renowned Ailey dancers in excerpts of Alvin Ailey’s Cry and Robert Battle’s Awakening.

Ailey Opens Two-Week Season At Lincoln Center On Wednesday, June 11th With Free Revelations Celebration Workshop On The Plaza And One-Night-Only Ailey Spirit Gala

For first time ever rising stars of Ailey II, The Ailey School and AileyCamp join Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater on David H. Koch Theater stage followed by a dance party with musical styling of special guest DJ M.O.S. Vanessa Williams serves as Honorary Chair of the gala benefit for scholarships and Arts In Education programs serving area students.

Artistic Director Robert Battle announced repertory for the season, highlighted by a world premiere from Robert Moses - a first-time collaboration with the Company - new productions of Hans van Manen's Polish Pieces and David Parson's signature work Caught, along with the company premiere of Asadata Dafora's groundbreaking 1932 solo Awassa Astrige/Ostrich.
